GERRARD BACK SOON

Liverpool are set to welcome their captain and midfielder Steven Gerrard back to the squad as they prepare to get away on the pre-season tour. Liverpool will be hoping that the coming season can be much better than the ones they have experienced in recent years. Liverpool have failed to qualify for the Champions League for the last four seasons, which has put the club with a lot of work to do in order to catch the likes of Tottenham and Arsenal. It was not long ago that they were regularly playing in the group stages of the Champions League.

The 32-year-old influential midfielder was absent for the last two matches of last season as he decided to undergo a shoulder operation. Liverpool timed the operation in such a way that it enabled Gerrard to return to the squad just in time for the pre-season tour. Even though there have been several new signings over the years, Gerrard still remains one of the integral parts of the Liverpool team. He has stated that it will be only a couple of weeks before he resumes full training.

He has said that this is probably the longest break he has had at this time of the year. Now, he is looking forward to getting back on the pitch and helping Liverpool.

“I’m not too far away, maybe a couple of weeks away from contact and being back in full training if everything goes well. It’s probably the longest break I’ve had at this time of year – being out of the game for six weeks is enough, I’m itching to get back. It’s going well and feeling strong,” said the Liverpool captain to the official website. This news also means that Gerrard will be available for the national team for the upcoming World Cup qualifying matches.
