Tottenham go for Victor Wanyama

There are media reports that Tottenham Hotspurs might make a £11million bid for Southampton midfielder Victor Wanyama. The negotiations have already stated and may reach a conclusion in the days to come.

It is believed that talks will continue during the week, and a decision will be taken on whether Wanyama will leave Southampton or not. The Kenyan international joined Southampton in 2013 for a fee that is reported to be £12.5m.

The player currently has one year left on his contract, and Southampton will be keen to let him go now rather to see him move on a free transfer at the end of the season. This is the second bid that Spurs will be making for Victor Wanyama after they failed to sign him at the start of last season.

Victor Wanyama has already played under Mauricio Pochettino while he was at Southampton and will want to reconnect with his former manager. Additionally playing for Tottenham will ensure him better chances of playing in Europe especially the Champions League. If you’re looking how to bet smart, it might be worth backing Spurs to do well next season.

Wanyama is a classic defensive midfielder that will add some aggressiveness and determination in the Tottenham Hotspurs midfield. He is so aggressive that he picked up 3 red cards this season, and this can be an issue that Pochettino will have to resolve if he wants to build a team that will challenge the best teams in the league.

After having lost the title to Leicester City in the closing stage of last season, Tottenham Hotspurs will be keen to strengthen the team so as to be able to mount a proper challenge this term. With teams such as Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United likely to invest massively in new players, Tottenham will want to begin their transfer dealings early.
