MIND GAMES

Jose Mourinho has been involved in a lot of mind games with Manchester City in a bid to detract says major title challenger. Chelsea, Manchester City, and Arsenal are the teams involved in the title race this season, while Liverpool also have an outside chance as well. Chelsea and City appear to be the strongest of the lot. After 28 matches in the season, Chelsea lead the table with a four-point advantage over second place with Liverpool. Even though City are six points behind the blues, Mourinho has been consistently stating that City can only lose the title.

Manual Pellegrini’s men have two games in hand over the table leaders. Even though one of them is against archrivals Manchester United, it is regarded that they will get the maximum points from these two matches. Due to their better goal difference over Chelsea, they can go top of the table. Meanwhile, City captain Vincent Kompany says that the club will not be led into the mind games of Mourinho. He says that football is only about results and it is almost impossible to influence one another with just the media.

According to Kompany, there are four teams in with a shout to win the title. He says that Liverpool are also looking like title challengers due to their lack of distractions.

“It’s very simple in football, the winner is always right and the loser is always wrong. Unless a manager puts on his football boots and starts playing as a striker, I’m never really worried about what they can say. As I say, there are four teams and Liverpool is one that can win it as well. Maybe City and Chelsea have a slight edge, but then again Liverpool have just as much momentum,” said the Belgian defender after winning the League Cup.
